Waxwing sighting
There has been a report on the Bradford birding website of 14 waxwings in Ilkley Town Centre car park on Tuesday 15th November. Please let us know if you spotted them too. The first UK visitor in winter, waxwings are usually spotted on the East coast but move inland in search of food. They are reddish-brown in colour and slightly smaller than a starling with a distinctive crest, black mask around the eyes, yellow and white markings on the wings and a yellow-tipped tail.
More information on waxwings can be found on the RSPB website.
About 30 Waxwings spotted feeding on a tree of yellow berries in Bierley Bradford on 12 and 13 January. They stripped the tree bare!
