Gravel Pits Orchids
There have been a mass of orchids at the Gravel Pits this month. The problem with such swarms is the difficulty telling what they are – the plants can become hybridised. There appear to be two distinct types when looking at them: the Southern marsh and the Common spotted, but if any Botanists have any ideas they would be gratefully received. The plant in the featured image appears to be more like a Common spotted orchid, where the one below looks more like a Southern marsh orchid. Looking more closely there are other differences.
