The first of the Spring butterflies?

It has felt a bit more Spring like the last few days and the weather looks promising for the coming week. The featured image is a picture of a fresh looking Tortoiseshell spotted today on the wood edge near Middleton Woods. We hope this is the start of many sightings for 2016!
Edit 14/03/2016:
I’m reliably informed that despite its fresh appearance this would have been an overwintering butterfly tempted out by the sunny weather. Since then we have had a Comma in the garden today and other records have been coming in. My brother saw a Brimstone in Shropshire. Long may it continue.
